MEAP 7.67.141 Update Released

MEAP 7.67.141

MEAP version 7.67.141 update has been released.

This is a minor maintenance update which mainly deals with the new MEAp Shots Upload page but also contains a few minor tweaks.

In previous version – the MEAP Shots application would direct you to a local Box Net widget in order to upload your MEAP Shots file. This has now been changed to an online form that is part of the MEAP Website. Meaning that in future the form can be modified and adjusted without inconveniencing the user. Also all graphics are then stored in a database so that if the user even loses them, we can easily re-supply them again.

7.67.141 UPDATE:

  • Updated MEAP Shots Application
  • Updated MEAP Manual
  • New Key Commands File
  • Two minor bugs squashed

This is a free update for all registered MEAP users.

Please note, as usual, if you are using any custom MEAP graphics you will need to replace them after installing the update.

MEAP 7.67.140 Update Released

MEAP 7.67.140

MEAP version 7.67.140 update has been released.

This update has improvements for Cubase 6 and Cubase 7 export operation. it requires a new Key Commands file which should be installed automatically over your existing MEAPKeys Key Commands file. Therefore, if you have customised your MEAPKeys Key Commands file you should back it up first and make a note of any changes.

The new Key Command is CTRL+SHIFT+K which will (in Cubase 6 / 7) begin the audio export without the need for finding the Export Button. If you wish to use the old method this can be done by editing the meapdefs.ini file:

Change:

[other_options]
press_67_button=KeyCommand

To:

[other_options]
press_67_button=ImageRecognition

7.67.140 UPDATE:

  • Improved new image recognition algorithm again
  • Added Image Recognition runtime DLL to installer
  • Added (default) option to use Key Command to start Audio Export – Speeds up export significantly
  • Minor tweaks and fixes
  • Recompiled with latest compiler (14.07)

This is a free update for all registered MEAP users.

Please note, as usual, if you are using any custom MEAP graphics you will need to replace them after installing the update.

MEAP 7.67.100 Hotfix

MEAP 7.67.100 Hotfix

MEAP version 7.67.100 update has been released.

This improves on the new image recognition method and also fixes a rare bug that was introduced by this new method.

Full update details:

7.67.100 UPDATE:

  • Improved new image recognition algorithm
  • Fixed problem in some applications that will cause MEAP to get the wrong track name
  • Added option to ini file to use original style image recognition
  • Speeded up finding of track name by eliminating search for Frozen Tracks if Normal Track is found

7.67.050 UPDATE:

  • Added new MEAP (Run as Admin) Startup option

If you are experiencing initial trouble with MEAP being unable to send Key Commands to your audio application it may be due to MEAP requiring administrator privileges. An ordinary process (a process run as a standard user) can not interact with or exchange information with an admin process. So if your audio application is running with elevated privileges, MEAP cannot interact with it. As of version 7.67.050 you can now simply start MEAP by selecting the shortcut “MEAP (Run as Admin)”. Or make sure you set MEAP to Run as Administrator:

This is a free update for all registered MEAP users.

Please note, as usual, if you are using any custom MEAP graphics you will need to replace them after installing the update.

nb. Due to the extensive work and extra tools required for this release there will be small price increase for new purchases made after  March 01 2103.

So if you are considering purchasing MEAP – Now would be a good time!

This update is still free for existing registered MEAP users.

MEAP 7.67.049 Released – Adds Cubase 7 Compatibility

Cubase 7

We are pleased to announce MEAP version 7.67.050 update has been released.

This is milestone update and features much requested support for Cubase 7.

Cubase 7

It also features the inclusion of the amazing new “coefficient” image and button finding algorithm which should put a stop to those annoying Graphic Not Found errors.

The coefficient method has much greater tolerance for image differences and therefore, small discrepancies from system to system should no longer be a problem.

MEAP 7.62.262 Released – Adds Cubase SX2 Compatibility

Cubase SX2

MEAP version 7.62.262 update has been released.

This is quite a major update for some as it features much requested support for Cubase SX2.

Cubase SX2
Cubase SX2

Cubase SX2, although quite old now, is still considered a fast and reliable workhorse in many studios. Of course there is absolutely no batch stem export facility in SX2 and that is where MEAP can now help.

Also , exporting marker tracks is breeze with SX2 due to it having the ability to take marker names from the marker description, a feature that is sorely missed in later Cubase / Nuendo versions.

7.62.232 UPDATE:

  • Added Cubase SX 2 Compatibility
  • Updated MEAP Shots Application adding SX2 Compatibility
  • Improved Speed of Zero To Last Part Option
  • Recompiled with latest compiler (13.2)
  • Minor big fixes and enhancements

Making Your Own MEAP Graphics

Cropped a little more

The most common problem that stops MEAP working is the Graphic Not Found Error.

This happens when MEAP is looking for a particular graphic (for example the Solo button) and because the button may not appear the same on all systems, MEAP may not be able to find it.

This is easy to fix. And as you probably know, if you send a message and Support Zip File to MEAP Support, you will usually receive a custom graphic specifically for your system within a few hours.

However, if you are in a hurry or even just a little interested, you can do it yourself.

So here’s the steps:

Finding What Went Wrong

MEAP has already tried to give us a clue which graphic it could not find, in the error message.

Graphic Not Found - Argggh!
Graphic Not Found – Argggh!

In this case it was the Solo button. It was lit up within Cubase but for some subtle (or sometimes obvious) reason, MEAP didn’t recognise it.

You can access the ZIP file that MEAP has created directly from this message by clicking the ZIP button.

The ZIP button
The ZIP button

Or if you have already closed the message, you can go to the place that the ZIP file is stored:

ZIP File located
ZIP File located

Usually this file can be found in the following location:

Windows Vista: Windows 7: C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\Phil Pendlebury\MEAP\zip\
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME\Application Data\Phil Pendlebury\MEAP\zip\

Open the Zip file and you will see a group of files. One of them should be named final.bmp (Note: If the final.bmp does not exist, simply use any screen shot that contains the graphic areas you need).

If you look at this screen shot you should see the button or area that MEAP was looking for. To your eyes it may look OK but sometimes computers can be very picky.

Making Your Own

So now we are going to make our own version of the graphic – So it is exactly matched to your system and MEAP will always see it.

First, make some copies of the final.bmp so that you can rename them correctly before editing. The new graphic must be a Bitmap and stay in the same format that MEAP used.

Locate the MEAP graphic folder. In this case Cubase 6 graphics:

Windows Vista: Windows 7 – C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\Phil Pendlebury\MEAP\graphics\c6gfx\
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME\Application Data\Phil Pendlebury\MEAP\graphics\c6gfx\

Decide which graphic you are going to make and rename one of your final.bmp copies to the same name as that graphic. In this case the name would be c6solo.bmp

MEAP's original graphics
MEAP’s original graphics

Open your favourite photo editing software and load in the final.bmp

We now need to look at the original graphic (c6solo.bmp) and roughly crop a similar graphic from the newly created c6solo.bmp that came from you final.bmp

Zoom in so that you can see how the original graphic was cropped. It is important that the graphic is cropped in the same way, especially for the Path graphics.

Roughly cropped button

Then we can start to crop down the new graphic and zoom in until they look similar.

Cropped a little more

Finally you should end up with a graphic that looks almost identical to the original. But remember this has been made from your own screen shot so it will match your setup exactly.

The Final Cropdown

Now – Save the file. Do not change the file type or make any adjustments to colour or contrast, brightness etc. This is why we renamed the final.bmp to the button name before we started editing. So you can simply save the new file.

When you have saved the file and repeated this procedure with any other graphics that may have caused errors you can now copy your new graphics over the original. (Don’t worry the originals are all backed up should you ever need to restore them). Copy the new graphics here:

Windows Vista: Windows 7 – C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\Phil Pendlebury\MEAP\graphics\YOUR AUDIO APP\
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME\Application Data\Phil Pendlebury\MEAP\graphics\YOUR AUDIO APP\

In this case YOUR AUDIO APP would be c6gfx

You now have a set of graphics that are totally matched to your current system. Keep them safe! If you ever re-install MEAP or install an update, you will need to copy these graphics over the originals again.

Good luck and happy exporting.
