Path Not Found – Help!

MEAP can name your exported files with the name of each track that is exported.

Sometimes MEAP cannot send key commands because it does not have administrative permission. You will have to make sure you are running MEAP as an Administrator.

On some Windows systems you will have to make sure you are running MEAP as an Administrator. An ordinary process (a process run as a standard user) can not interact with or exchange information with an admin process. So if your audio application is running with elevated privileges, MEAP cannot interact with it.

As of version 7.67.050 you can now simply start MEAP by selecting the shortcut “MEAP (Run as Admin)“.

Or make sure you set MEAP to Run as Administrator. You can do this by Right Clicking on the MEAP short-cut and selecting “Run as administrator”.

Run as administrator

MEAP needs to find areas of your screen in order to take certain action.

In Cubase 5 and 6 – this applies to the Export Button and the Path area in the Export Audio Dailog. For example you may see that the “path” cannot be found. This is because MEAP needs to find the text “path” on your screen and match it to a previously captured image of that text.

Many displays are different. Colour of buttons may be subtly changed. Some folks use Clear Type, some do not. Also Clear Type itself is different on nearly every machine.

So if the buttons on your display are different to the original versions, MEAP may fail. There is a large amount of “tolerance” involved which attempts to compensate for these differences but sometimes the difference is just too much. If that is the case you will see this message.

Unfortunately, if you see this dialog, MEAP will have to stop. We have done everything we can to try and make people aware of this potential problem.

A great deal of time has been spent making an easy way to fix this problem if it occurs. It takes a matter of minutes.

The dialog will give you a good idea what may have caused the problem. You will see in the dialog the exact image(s) that MEAP was looking for.

MEAP also makes a zip file that contains:

  • MEAP screen shots
  • MEAP ini file
  • MEAP settings and location

You then have some options:

  • If you click ZIP – You will be taken to the folder where MEAP stores the current zip file. There you will be able to open and examine the zip file. You will also see a message reminding you to post the zip file along with a support request.
  • If you click SCREEN – the folder that contains the screen shot that MEAP was looking at will be opened so you can examine it.

It is then simply a matter of submitting a support request, attaching the ZIP file, along with a short message about what happened. As this ZIP file contains shots of your actual screen, it is very quick and easy task to edit this into a matching set of graphics for you.

So – You will receive (very quickly) a set of custom graphics that exactly match your set up. Once this issue is fixed it will stay fixed permanently.

Please make sure you post a support request as soon as possible, with details of your problem and include the zip file as an attachment. So that your support request can be followed up as quickly as possible.

Of course if you are in a real hurry you can edit your own buttons.

There is also some more detailed information about this in the MEAP manual or online manual.

Does MEAP do OMF?

MEAP will export stems to audio in many ways.

It does not offer OMF export.

Your stem files will be audio, with various file naming options, locator options and logging options.

You can (for example), insert the part position as part of the file name.

What do I do with the new graphic files I received?

If you get a GNF Error due to different graphic characteristics and you have sent off the MEAP Support Zip file; You will receive set of custom graphics in return.

First, Please download and install the latest version of MEAP. When you have finished the install please follow the instructions below:

Navigate to MEAP’s Main Graphics Folder and replace the existing graphics that are there with the ones you received.

Go to:

Windows 7/8/10: C:\Users\[yourusername]\AppData\Roaming\Phil Pendlebury\MEAP\graphics\[AUDIO APPLICATION]\

Vista: C:\Users\[yourusername]\AppData\Roaming\Phil Pendlebury\MEAP\graphics\[AUDIO APPLICATION]\

XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[yourusername]\Application Data\Phil Pendlebury\MEAP\graphics\[AUDIO APPLICATION]\

Replace the existing files with the ones you received. These have been made specifically for your system.

Try a small dummy export with 2 very short tracks to test the graphics.

Also keep these customised graphics somewhere safe as they will be needed if you ever update or reinstall MEAP.

Why use MEAP when new Cubase / Nuendo do batch export?

Why use MEAP when some Cubase 6 and 7 now have batch export?

Cubase’s batch export is a great new addition to the Cubase family. And it is very convenient to have it built into the audio application. However, as it is at the moment, you have the option to export your individual tracks but:

  • The batch export option is only available in the full version of Cubase.
  • There are no options for locator settings. So all your files will be the same size from Left to Right locator, no matter what is on the track.
  • There is no option to export the individual parts from each track.
  • There are no advanced or custom file name settings.
  • There is no way to export marker sections. (Even Nuendo does not allow exporting between single markers).
  • There is no way to make a log file containing your export info.
  • There is no way to automatically save your project and shut down your DAW and send you an email when the export is finished.
  • When exporting stems from Cubase via the built in method – exported stems are direct from the selected channel. Often this may be preferred but if you have any effects on the Master Output this will be ignored when using Cubase’s built in batch export.

The above are just some of the reasons to continue using MEAP.
